Tennis National postponed

The Hindu, 03 September, 2008 The DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited (DSCL) has announced that it would host the National tennis championship in the next season, as it was unable to conduct the event at the DLTA complex owing to the heavy construction work at the venue, which has among other reason resulted in the reduction of the number of courts.

In a release issued here on Tuesday, the DSCL has stated that it had probed the possibilities of holding the tournament in a different venue, restrict the size of the draws, and even reduce the number of events, but did not find suitable answers.

“DSCL is constrained to defer the 17th DSCL Open National championship to 2009”, the release said, even as the successful conduct of the tournament over the past 16 years was brought to focus in highlighting the helpfulness of the organizers in the current situation.
