VINAY TO BATTLE SRIRAM FOR CROWN

DELHI, October 14 (www.dsclopentennis.com) - Top-seeded Vinay Kamineni (Andhra Pradesh) and No. 2 Sriram Balaji (Tamil Nadu) justified their billing and will clash in the final of the boys' under-14 at the 13th DSCL Open National Tennis Championship at the DLTA Complex here tomorrow.

Kamineni ended the giant killing run of Delhi's Karan Uday Singh by dropping just one game in two sets while Sriram Balaji had to put his best foot forward to stop Chandigarh's Vijayant Malik from making it to two finals. Malik and Shiva Sangwan were beaten finalists in the doubles draw.

In the girls' final, Andhra Pradesh's GS Janaki Rao will take on Karnataka's Poojashree Venkatesh. The eighth-seeded Poojashree Venkatesh is in line for a double crown as she teamed up with Delhi's Sweta Kumari Solanki to win the doubles title.

Boys under-14 (semifinals): 1 Vinay Kamineni (Andhra Pradesh) beat 14 Karan Uday Singh (Delhi) 6-1, 6-0; 2 N Sriram Balaji (Tamil Nadu) beat 6 Vijayant Malik (Chandigarh) 7-5, 6-4. Boys doubles (final): 4 Vikram Reddy (Andhra Pradesh) and Abhijeet Tiwari (Chattisgarh) beat Vijayant Malik and Shiva Sangwan (Chandigarh) 6-2, 7-6 (4).

Girls' under-14 (semifinals): 7 GS Janaki Rao (Andhra Pradesh) beat Shahin Ansari (Tamil Nadu) 6-2, 6-3; 8 Poojashree Venkatesh (Karnataka) beat 6 Daniella Jones (Bengal) 6-0, 6-0. Girls doubles (final): 2 Sweta Kumari Solanki (Delhi) and Poojashree Venkatesh (Karnataka) beat 1 Prerna Mythry and Sushruta Reddy (Andhra Pradesh) 6-2, 6-0.

Veterans doubles (semifinals): Sudhir Batra and Naresh Vatwani (Delhi) beat 1 Satyajeet Burman and Dilip Kumar (Bengal) 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; 4 Sanjeev Kassal and RI Singh (Delhi) beat 2 Sundaram Mahalingam and Pushparaj (Karnataka) 6-0, 6-0.
