The seeds were scattered in different directions in the second round of the DSCL National sub junior tennis championships here on Tuesday.

Top seed K Pooja, given the top billing in the under-16 section, could do nothing right and suffered a 6-2, 6-2 thrashing at the hands of Oormila Ram. Datla Tejaswi, the top seed in the under 14, also bit the dust when she was forced to concede her match to Delhi's Amrita Seth, after straining her right leg.

The spate of upsets continued with the ouster of second seed Siddharth Alapati in the boys' under 14 section. He was beaten 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 by I Kaustubh. In contrast, it was an easier outing in the boys under 16 section as third seed Jitin Bishnoi was the only seed to be taken to three sets.

Right from start, Pooja seemed to be struggling to get her game together. Her serve was all over the place and her forehand looked shaky. To her credit, Oormila came up with some brilliant passes and played more solidly from the baseline.

In the opening set, after a tentative start, Oormila broke Pooja in the fourth and sixth games to pocket the set 6-2. The second set was a repeat of the first.
