DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited (DSCL) for the last 16 years, has been actively involved in promoting tennis in the country under the aegis of the All India Tennis Association, and in close association with the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association.

The DSCL Open National Tennis Championship, the largest tournament in the domestic circuit, is being successfully conducted every year at the DLTA complex which is the premier venue befitting an event of such high stature. The success of the vision of the tournament i.e. providing opportunity to budding players to prove their talent and encouraging established players to move on to higher echelons, is evident from the increasing number of participants coming to the tournament each year.

This year, the entire DLTA complex is under going major re-construction programme in preparation of the Commonwealth Games. The extensive on going civil work would reduce the number of courts available for the tournament. It is also foreseen that the movement of people would get restricted and could be unsafe for larger crowds.

With this in view, after careful consideration, including that of seeking alternate venue for the tournament, reducing categories and qualifying draws, DSCL is constrained to defer the 17th DSCL Open National Tennis Championship 2009 to the year 2010. Dates for the tournament in 2010 shall be intimated as soon as the same are finalized in consultation with the All India Tennis Association and Delhi Lawn Tennis Association.
